How to share your screen on Zoom (with sound)

Quick answer

In a Zoom meeting, click Share (the green Share Screen button on older versions), choose your Screen or a single window, and click Share. To include video or music audio, tick Share sound before clicking Share.

Click Stop Share at the top of the screen to finish. If you can't share, the host may need to allow it under Security > Allow all participants to: Share Screen.

Share your screen

Windows and Mac

  1. Click Share in the meeting controls.
  2. Select what to share: an entire Screen, a specific app window, Whiteboard or a file.
  3. Tick Share sound to include computer audio, and Optimize for video clip if you're playing video.
  4. Click Share. A green border shows what others see.
  5. Click Stop Share to finish.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Tap Share in the meeting controls.
  2. Tap Screen > Start Broadcast.
  3. Switch to the app you want to show. Tap the red status bar and Stop Broadcast when done.

Android

  1. Tap Share > Screen.
  2. Tap Start now on the Android permission prompt.
  3. Tap Stop Share when done.

Let participants share (host)

Click Security in the meeting controls and tick Share Screen under Allow all participants to. For more control, click the ^ next to Share > Advanced Sharing Options and set Who can share? to All Participants.

Screen sharing isn't working

  • Mac: go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording and turn on zoom.us, then restart Zoom.
  • Black screen on Windows: turn off hardware acceleration in Zoom (Settings > Screen share > Advanced) or update your graphics driver.
  • Option greyed out: the host hasn't allowed participant sharing, or someone else is already sharing.
  • Others can't hear audio: you didn't tick Share sound; stop and share again with it ticked.

Share part of your screen

In the share window, open the Advanced tab and choose Portion of Screen - a green frame appears that you can move and resize.

Yes if you share the whole screen. Share one window instead, or turn on Do Not Disturb/Focus.

Can two people share at once?

Yes, if the host enables Multiple participants can share simultaneously in Advanced Sharing Options.

Does screen sharing work on the free plan?

Yes. Screen sharing is available on free and paid Zoom accounts.
